Oz and Brenda, the dynamic duo behind Oz's Jewelers, have officially retired, passing the torch to Dalton Powell and Melissa Haynes in January 2025. Their remarkable journey is a testament to their vision, passion, and commitment to excellence in the jewelry industry.
Oz: The Man Behind the Sparkle
Oz’s story began in Catawba, NC, where his passion for racing introduced him to the connections that would shape his future career. After years of mastering the trade and working on repairs for other shops, Oz opened the doors to his own jewelry business in 1983. Over the decades, he earned prestigious credentials from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), built a loyal clientele, and developed his own jewelry line, Steal Her Heart. Known for his love of unique and meaningful designs, Oz's artistry and dedication have left an indelible mark on the jewelry world.
When he wasn’t crafting masterpieces, Oz enjoyed time with family, playing guitar with his church worship team, or indulging his love of cars. His self-taught guitar skills and deep connection to his community have made him a local treasure.
Brenda: The Heart of the Business
Hailing from Fountain, SC, Brenda brought warmth, elegance, and expertise to Oz's Jewelers. As the daughter of a preacher, her family moved frequently before settling in Taylorsville, NC, where she met Oz. Together, they built a business that has served as a cornerstone of their community for over four decades.
Brenda’s love for diamonds and pearls, coupled with her AJP credential from the GIA, reflected her deep understanding of fine jewelry. Known for her vibrant morning energy, Brenda started each day with a 5 a.m. walk alongside her friends, the "Conover Queens." Her enthusiasm and positivity created a welcoming environment for customers and staff alike.
A New Chapter Begins
After nearly 5 decades in the jewelry industry, Oz and Brenda have retired, entrusting the future of their beloved business to Dalton and Melissa. The legacy they built—grounded in artistry, hard work, and community—will continue to shine brightly under new leadership.
Thank you, Oz and Brenda, for your unwavering dedication and the legacy you’ve left for generations to come. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement!
